Material Composition

Michigan Wheel chose to create this propeller with 15-5PH stainless steel using one-piece investment cast construction. This grade is known for being resistant to corrosion so it is perfect for marine applications. It is also strong enough to withstand high pressure which can be present when the boat is running at full speed. A number of heat treatments may be employed to strengthen the material prior to fabrication. This alloy is made up of chromium, nickel, and copper. There may also be trace amounts of silicon, sulfur, manganese, phosphorous, and carbon. Meanwhile, the hub it coated on the inside with a durable rubber for shock absorption.

Design

The Michigan Wheel Ballistic propeller has a Power Tip design that is known to enhance power efficiency. This tip curvature, along with the blade cup, improves the prop's bite in the water for reduced slippage. They also minimize the physical damage and power losses brought about by the effects of cavitation. The leading edge has been tapered to lower drag without sacrificing blade integrity. A lot of models have interchangeable hub systems but the design team has opted to use basic hub geometry in this case to simplify installation and repair.

Performance

The blade feature highly cambered sections that enable the propeller to push the boat at faster speeds and achieve higher bow lift. The Power Tip design and the narrow edges allow the blades to cut smoothly through the water. These characteristics make the Ballistic propeller suitable for racing and other applications that call for rapid movements. This model is known to last for a very long time thanks to its incredible strength. The rubber inside the hub also prevents rapid wear for both the shaft and the propeller.

Other Properties

The blades have a high luster mirror finish and fine balance for consistency. These allow the propeller to spin while producing a very low amount of vibration.
